Wii Ethernet Kit coming

Don't have wireless internet? Don't worry; Nintendo's Ethernet Kit will get you online in no time
Nintendo revealed to CVG today that it will release an Ethernet Kit for Wii, which allows users to connect the console to a standard internet router without wireless support.

It's undoubtedly good news after concerns that the lack of an Ethernet port on the Wii meant that the console could only connect to the internet via wireless link-up.

For people without a wireless-enabled router, this would mean purchasing a new router or the almost non-existent Nintendo WiFi Connector (that USB dongle thingy). But with the Ethernet Kit available, non-wireless gamers have nothing to worry about.

Those of you who connect your DS to the internet with the Nintendo WiFi Connector can use the same device to connect the Wii. And most wireless routers will also be compatible with the Wii's built-in WiFi technology. So everyone should be online with Wii. Bring on Mario Kart!

When will someone ask Nintendo the most important question of all??

Will there be a VGA cable???? Please!
EmperorK on 3 Oct '06
I suppose it's good news so it's more accessible to everyone........... but for the truly next gen experience, you have to go completely wireless!!

The 360 is completely wireless except for the headset that you have to plug into the controller Mad

Apparently MS are releasing a Wireless headset soon

Anyway, Nintendo said ages ago that they would release a USB-Ethernet cable. This news article is a farce. but Wi-fi is an industry standard - so if you have one Wi-fi device, everything should be compatible with a bit of fidling with the settings, so if you have a wireless router, you can connect, if you have a wi-fi dongle (nintendo branded or not) sticking out of your pc, youy can connect, and if you have a cable router anywhere near you Wii you can connect..... and its free so everyone should be online

Yep, wireless is certainly the way of the future.

Guys, please explain something to me...I'm such a n00b when it comes to wireless. Ok, I have a Wifi Connector, and since the Wii has built in Wifi capabilities does that mean I don't need the ethernet kit? Or does this ethernet kit somehow connect my Wii to the Wifi Connector? Help!

Well the wii is out and the wireless controller rocks
