Electronic Arts and Pandemic Studios have confirmed that the previously-PS3 exclusive sequel Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will now also be coming to Xbox 360, PS2 and PC.
An Xbox 360 version of the game has been heavily rumoured over the past year, but the PS2 and PC versions have come as a surprise.
"Mercenaries 2: World in Flames delivers the next evolution in explosive open world gameplay - regardless of the system you play it on," said Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman.
"All four platforms are incredible gaming machines, and from the beginning we designed an experience that accentuates their individual strengths and delivers the interactive freedom and explosive action Mercenaries fans demand."
yeah, everybody saw this coming. it is quite rare that a multi-platform game has a sequel that is exclusive to one system. besides, i dont think this is as big a hit to sony as some may think since it is also coming out on ps2. i am pretty sure the ps2 is still making them lots of money. plenty of ppl out there who do not have new consoles and are only getting new games for their ps2's and that is it.
To all the PS3 fanboys out there who said this would not happen "I told you so"
It was always going to happen but when EA came on board as publishers for this game it became a certainty.
I am surprised by the PS2 version although it could be a slightly different game than the next gen versions because of the hardware limitations of the ageing PS2.
Im no mind reader but I guess that this is one of the main reasons that nintendo opted out a big graphical upgrade. at this point I can see the ps3 and 360 sharing the majority of their games, and I wouldn't be surprised to see titles like ff13 or devil may cry 4 on both platforms.there is realy no reason for publishers to limit their audience by sticking to one console when they are both so similar in terms of power.
There goes another of our exclusives. This is getting to be a pain in the ***e. At least Blazing Angels will use the tilt, that was not in the Xbox version and we would rather have that.

Welcome to Blazing angels it was never all that good anyway & I dont see a little "tilt" changing the experience all that much really

LOL!
You'd rather have blazing Angels? Here's a tip, try it on the 360 first and see if you can't be annoyed by the stupid tracking camera, the unrealistic controls and the franking insultingly ridiculous story lines of how the Americans won the battle of Britain. (complete with irritating accents)

LOL Christ man let him at least have the PS3 tilt exclusive! Yes Blazing Angels was a bit of a let down although I only played the 360 demo and that was enough to tell me I didn't want to dump $60 on it. I must say bragging about a tacked on feature such as the PS3 tilt is like me bragging I can change my faceplate! If you want tilt get it done as close to right as possible and get a Wii...AND SAVE $350! BURN!
You guys just don't know how fantastic tilt is. Would you not rather have tilt over rumble?
No.
Tilt sounds like a good extra: the Wii games are fun to play for sure, but rumble is now a staple of games IMO.
It was Sony with the Dual Shock 1 (and a passing nod to the N64 no doubt) that got us all hooked on rumble sensitivity last generation, and now they drop it so as to not admit there mistakes and agree to a proper contract.
For the ability to feel stuff blowing up, Im happy for the graphical and slight downgrade of the gameplay for the PS2. Means us fanboys dont have to buy the 360
