PreviousGuitar Hero 360 dated for April 360 performing poorly in Europe, says Reggie  Next

"Final Fantasy should come to Xbox 360", says Sakaguchi

"It makes so much sense to me", comments Blue Dragon man and FF creator
After leaving the company to bring his RPG duo Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to Xbox 360, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi says that Square Enix should bring Final Fantasy to Microsoft's console.

The Mistwalker boss told Gamespot: "I feel that the Final Fantasy series should come to Xbox 360 as well. This is wise. It makes so much sense to me...it has so much potential in North America and in Europe. So there's a great chance for the series to succeed on 360 as well."

Continuing the chat Sakaguchi-san suggested that Square Enix could port its upcoming PS3 instalment Final Fantasy XIII to 360 fairly simply, because "they made the White Engine open platform".

To date Square Enix's support for the Xbox 360 has been fairly week. A port of the 11th Final Fantasy has so far been the only one of the company's titles to make it over, but with the current trend of cross-platform development we wouldn't rule out the idea of Final Fantasy XII on 360.

Sakaguhci's latest, Blue Dragon, was recently confirmed for European release in September, with talk of a demo in June emanating from the same interview.

Of course it makes sense to him .Microsoft pays him gold to be 360-exclusive and if FF came to X360 it could have success in Japan and his games wouldnt sell so poorly .Fact is ,it isnt happening ,so wake up Mizuguchi .

Mmmm i am sure he gets paid well regardless of how well Blue Dragon et al sell. And i am sure he would wish more people could play Blue Dragon.
He is right though it makes sense for Square to port any existing or future products to the 360. Some might say it makes perfect business sense to have your product available to the largest possible market. It would help off set the huge development costs for one, and you never know they might just turn a proffit.
But then again i could be wrong, and so might be Sakaguchi.

It does make sense, especially if Final Fantasy XIII isn't that far off. The PS3 user base is still small.

Maybe they will, maybe the whole point of Final Fantasy XI on 360 was to get some experience with it. I mean I doubt they were really expecting it to do well

If this were to happen, it would render the PS3 useless to me. I have only ever bought Sony consoles for Final Fantasy.

I had final fantasy VII and VIII on pc. How come they ditched the pc then?

Because they didn't sell very well, I imagine! Either because the market isn't there or because they were very poor conversions

Im with ya on that, although id much prefer a PC conversion Smile, but it really is stupid for Square-Enix not to release it for the XBox360 as most PS3 'exclusive' titles are all of a sudden jumping to multi-format. For me the only games going for the PS3 are MGS4 and FF, and to be honest i wouldnt spend £500 on a console for them as i can easily wait several years until theyre on another format or i can pickup a PS£ in the unwanted items of a second hand shop Twisted Evil
