Information on Guild Wars 2 has appeared in the forums of website Guild Wars Guru, gleaned from the May issue of PC Gamer (US) which has extensive coverage on ArenaNet's MMOG series.
It's mentioned the sequel will be set "Hundreds of years later, in Tyria", and that what are termed "radical" changes to be implement in GW2 include an "overhauled environment and character control system, redefined PvP play and retooled NPC companion system."
Four new playable races are to be introduced - Sylvari, Asuras, Charr and Norn - and there'll still be no monthly fee to pay.
According to the post, Guild Wars players won't be able to transfer characters over to Guild Wars 2, but ArenaNet is letting adventurers "carry achievements forward" via a Hall of Monuments which it's said are "built via quests in Eye of the North and is only available in this chapter".
Eye of the North will be the final Guild Wars campaign to be released, due at the end of the year. Eye of the North's storyline will act as a bridge between Guild Wars 1 and the full sequel.

That's interesting. It sounds just like heroes cementing their legacy, before their stories scatter upon the waves and dunes of time. A satisfying way to leave that character, I think; and I'm keen to find out what transpires to bridge (series?) one and two of Guild Wars.
Yes, it does seem as though ARENANET have got it just right - as usual. A second GW would be dissapointing if it was just a tarted up version of what we have now. Although what we have now is possibly the best MMORPG ever. All my 8 character slots are filled and each character is at different stages in different campaigns. Some have completed one, but none have completed all yet. There's definately hours and hours of gameplay left and I'm looking forward to the 4th installment.
It's a tribute to the games brilliance, flexibility and ease of use (but tough to master) that my first ever character made is still in use.
Sounds like a good idea but if you cannot take current chars through will the present areas die out through lack of use. everyone in new territory and Tyria (pre/post searing) just a ghost town. I hope Arenanet can make it work for all GW addicts, wherever they like to play
