PS3 suffers Half-Life 2 lag

Orange Box on PS3 to release "a few weeks later" than PC and 360 versions, say reports
Sorry PS3 owners, but it appears you'll have to spend several, several days gazing upon your PC and Xbox 360 cousins in envy as they get to grips with latest offerings from Valve Software.

According to a report on IGN, the PS3 version of Half-Life 2: Orange Box will release "a few weeks later" than Orange box for PC and Xbox 360, both of which are due out on these shores on October 12.

Orange Box includes Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2.

EA currently has the UK release date of Orange Box on PS3 down as TBA.

Presumably the PS3 version is releasing later due to it being developed at EA rather than Valve Software.

I am so tired of EA's Microsoft-buddy attitude, I'm just going to stop buying their products. They keep on stiffing Mac users and PS3 users with product delays, and the 30 fps issue put me off trying Madden for the first time this year on the PS3.

Still looking on the bright side - they only make one AAA title in Tiger Woods and I can always buy PES instead of FIFA, so no harm done to the usual suspects in my game collection... bring on Killzone...

According to a recent interview on PSU, Valve said the PS3 version isn't using the SPUs yet so that version comes later because they want to optimize it.

^^^ i think i saw that interview... it was a fake

Was that TBA or MIA?
or maybe DOA?

Another delay, I'm surprised EA didn't just release it as is? Isn't that the style they've taken up these days? (Madden I'm pointing at you Laughing )

Hopefully the quality of the product makes the delay worthwhile.

It was only a few years ago when EA used to give xbox owners sloppy conversions and delays.

Funny how things change!

I will be buying the 360 version, I love my PS3 but shooters feel flat without a rumbling pad.

Its not just ea's games that are getting delayed,it seems like the norm now for ps3

Suprise, suprise, another c**k up by EA as they once more stiff PS3 owners Evil or Very Mad

Yeah, I've noticed that too. There always seems to be little or no reason given as well. You gotta feel a bit sorry for PS3 owners............that's just a suggestion though Wink

Just one tiny thing. The delay is unlikely to be down to EA. Valve who are making the game are well known to be terrible at sticking to release dates.

For once ea aren't to blame

You're wrong, EA are working on the ps3 version while Valve are working on the 360 and pc ones. Valve didnt want to do the ps3 one because they have no knowledge of the ps3/sony where as they have worked with Ms before on the xbox version and where more comfortable working with live etc.

Much as I have no love of EA as a company, I can't help thinking they are taking too much flack for stiffing PS3 owners when infact they have just been trying to get both games out together and not stiff 360 owners by holding back their version like some others have, now after the stink that Madden caused they seem to have delayed Half Life 2 to get it right and PS3 owners are still not happy, guess the only thing that would make Sony fanboys happy would be if devs held back the 360 versions untill the PS3 caught up but that would be much more unfair on 360 owners as it's not their system thats hard to programme for.

Anyway buy it and enjoy it or boycott it if it makes you that upset but stop bitching about devs who are doing their best to get games out on very complicated hardware architecture.
Slim-66 on 28 Aug '07
I'd rather have the best game out than one the wasn't optimised for PS3 but you can't ignore that the delay's just keep on coming, my 3 PS3 game collection doesn't look like it's going to get any bigger for a while yet! Crying or Very sad
bmaindj on 28 Aug '07
If you own both systems, buy the 360 version. I'm not buying it for PS3 just because I know it will be better on the other one. It's lame but that's what happens..." money talks and people listen"

Is that right? If so fair enough. Although if that really is the case then it shouldest be a surprise at all as ea wont be as familiar with the game to begin with.
