Jade Raymond says "no" to Assassin's demo

Sandbox games don't lend themselves to demos says producer
The latest video interview with Andy's First Lady of gaming, Jade Raymond, has brought some devastating news for anyone hoping to get their hands on a demo of the medieval sneak-'em-up Assassin's Creed.

With the game around one month away from release, there'll be no playable demo beaming its way through the pipes of PSN or Marketplace.

Raymond explained that as Assassin's Creed is a sandbox game it's too difficult to pick a portion to give away and let players experience it.

She also points out that similar sandbox titles like Grand Theft Auto don't use demos either, reports 1UP.

One month and counting then...

What about Crackdown. Great demo that made me buy the game on release - great game too. Wouldnt have bought it if I just read the reviews & would have missed out.

damn Jade and the 'No' word...

Course a demo can be made. Just takes a bit more effort Razz How about the good old time limited demo? Cool
vectra on 8 Oct '07
CrackDown and Saints Row managed it...
creamerybutter on 8 Oct '07
It's just an excuse...they obviously don't want to devote dev time to it, and they are probably quite confident with the games hype it'll sell itself without the need for a demo.
funkyjack on 8 Oct '07
Either Ubisoft is too lazy to create a demo or the game is still in such a mess, that they need all the time they can get to finish it up properly.

I agree with the Crackdown and time limited demo posts. Crackdown managed to do it and it convinced me to buy it, so why can't Assassins Creed?

Beat me to it. Totally agree. I'd rather they be honest and just say they haven't got the time to produce a demo. Don't make up ridiculous excuses though Jade, just because you've got a nice rack doesn't mean we're going to accept them.

Oh alright... just this once.

Bloody women & their sexual superiority eh?! Make us forgive anything they do Rolling EyesVery Happy

its probably the usual Ubi thing( for the PC anyway ), never release a demo in case everyone will spot how buggy and unoptimized it is( i.e. Rainbow 6 Vegas )

I have no interested in Assasins Creed, if it gets really good reviews and 2 months afterwards their forums arent full of pi$$ed off gamers then ill consider it
lmimmfn on 8 Oct '07
It may be a "sandbox" game but I am sure they could, as has been said, put a time limited demo out or put up some invisible barriers like Saints Row. Throw in a mission and it would be fine.
keyser7 on 8 Oct '07
This game is going to sell loads anyway, demo or not! It's a shame that they don't let us experience a taster of it though, makes you think that maybe it's not that good!

The visuals look great, but the combat looked naff in the E3 trailer, and i dunno if they'd have had enough time to fix it for release

I rarely buy a game nowadays without playing it first. Reviews are all well and good but there's nothing better than a little 'try b4 u buy' imo. I wouldn't have bought Bioshock if i hadn't played the demo.

I'm intending to make my own demo by consuming vast quantities of hashish, getting togged up in a dressing gown and running round Bristol city centre brandishing a toy cutlass.

Of course, I stand a good chance of being shot in the face. If I do, tell Jade Redmond that it's all her fault and I want her weeping at my funeral.

She's the cute one, right?

lol, ohhh yeah, shes well cute

Buying a game with no demo nowdays is very similar to meeting women on the internet with no photos.

Buyer beware.

And yea, the whole sandbox excuse is a load of garbage...nothing sells a good sandbox game like a demo.

It's disappointing because this game looked pretty promising but they've basically just told us that it failed.
Stirdy on 8 Oct '07
Maybe shes' worried because the game is poo!
wudragon on 8 Oct '07
I so don't care, I'll get the game anyway and I'd rather devs put time into the game rather than demos.
Kaprikawn on 8 Oct '07
I think it might be a bit pants and over-hyped so they're trying to get as many upfront sales as they can before people cotton on. Hope I'm wrong though.

If I dont play a demo before hand I dont buy it. I will rent this and if it's good buy it.
jubbgi01 on 8 Oct '07
She's a pig, the ugliest women I've ever seen, this will be crap cause everyone working on the game will have been put off by her hideous looking head.
Budly Moore on 8 Oct '07
I ain't buying this without a demo.

You mean to tell me she hasn't?? I emailed her and got a signed photo sent straight over. The girls got talent in more than just video games production Wink

If I had anything to do with it she'd be adopting my surname in a very quick, spur of the moment wedding ceremony. Without sounding any more of a stalker than I already have done I take my leave Smile

CVG you really do need to look at what you called her as well... She's called Jade Redmond not Raymond!! How can you get that wrong?? Admittedly if I had anything to do with it she'd be adopting my surname in a very quick, spur of the moment wedding ceremony. Without sounding any more of a stalker than I already have done I take my leave Smile
