Hollywood heavyweight goes game developer

Movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer joins forces with MTV in new game-led venture
Heavyweight movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer is teaming up with MTV Games to produce new entertainment properties that will begin life as games.

"Video games represent a new and innovative medium for what we've always tried to do, which is to tell great stories. But this medium is unique in that it gives the player control over how those stories unfold," Bruckheimer has said (reportedly).

"I look forward to working with MTV Games to create new original game stories, always looking for ways to innovate the medium."

As yet there's no word on any actual games in production at the Bruckheimer-MTV team-up house, but MTV executive vice president Jeff Yapp has suggested the focus will be on more than just traditional videogames.

Bloody hell, Bruckheimer gets his finger in another pie!
If he can come up with games as good and as successful as his TV franchises (although maybe not the spin-offs) we'll all be onto a winner.

Film producers trying to make games? Oh dear...

Yay for formulaic crap repeated and re-branded every 'season'.

Then again could be good i guess...

If its anything like American TV programs though we can expect decent games that are about 3 times longer than they need to be.

I think this is just what the industry needs!

Did he say games with actual honest-to-god stories. I'm in, where do I sign.
