Play PS1 games via PSP Remote Play

Sony's not shouting about it, but it works
Yesterday's PS3 firmware updates packs a nice little surprise Sony didn't mention - it enables PS1 gameplay via Remote Play on your PSP.

Just to clarify, that means that you can play PS1 games that are loaded onto your PS3 hard drive on your PSP via a wireless connection, including via the internet.

Why is this cool? Because you can stuff your PS3 hard drive full of PS1 games and play them wherever you are in the world, via the internet on your portable.

It works with PS1 game discs, too, but you'll obviously need to have loaded the disc into your PS3 before you left the house, unless you have a super game-loading robot at home that can do it for you.

You will need to have updated your PS3 to yesterdays 2.10 firmware first though, and your PSP will need firmware version 3.72 or later (3.80 was also released yesterday).

What do you mean by "stuff your harddrive full of ps1 games"? I mean, if you downloaded themvia the store, you can stuff your memorystick duo full of em too. This may even be the better choice, because the controls are so delayed, that every actiontitle, jump n run etc. is downright unplayable. I even had problems with clocktower, playing it over the local network.

Hardly a great choice to download either. Better off using custom formware and playing the games you want to play.

You can change to response time and visual quality also.

Hit the PSP home button then Settings > Communication Settings > Response Speed or Image Quality.

For some reason my my response speed was defaulted to -2 which was unplayable for action games I now how it set for +2 and I also bumped up the visual quality and everything looks and plays fine.

That is pretty decent an update really, now i can roam about playing PS1 games on my PSP without having to waste memory stick space, so i can lay it roaming the house or sneak in a game or two during Xmas dinner, i doubt anyone will notice, too busy socialising and all...
