Haze heads for March

Update: Sony removes Haze from it's 'Upcoming' list of PS3 games
The release date for Radical Design's delayed PS3 shooter, Haze, is as cloudy as the game's title. But after Sony listed the game as out in January, the listing's been changed to March.

Update: Sony has now updated its site, removing Haze from the 'Upcoming' list and slapping March, 2008 on it instead. Ubisoft is still sticking to "Q1", which doesn't really help matters either. Done when it's done by the looks of it...

Original story: The official US PlayStation page lists Haze for a January 15 launch, despite the fact that no-one - not even Ubisoft UK (who declined to comment) - seems to know exactly when the game will hit shelves.

Haze was originally planned for a November 2007 release, before being pushed back first to December, then back further into early 2008.

As it stands, the official line is that it'll be out during Q1 this year, so either way you've not got long to wait. That is if it doesn't slip again...

So theres been no demo, no proper code for magazines to test and review and little game info released overall, but its being released in 13 days, somehow i doubt it
DAEDALUS79 on 3 Jan '08
No, I think Haze will be out in Europe first. They even have an updated advertisement on the Europe site giving a free Haze needle pen if you pre-order Haze with a January date.

Their studio is located in Europe so I think they localized it for that area already.
imaballa on 3 Jan '08
Yesterday's Us release list had Haze as 18th March and one ubisoft site now has the date as March 2008 (although another says January 200Cool
jimmygoogle on 3 Jan '08
Wasn't it supposed to be Europe first anyway?
theideal on 3 Jan '08
Just checked there pre order web page and it says March!! Unsure about the game, have a feeling it will just be another generic shooter when it comes out. Like 3 years ago it might have been something special but now MEAH!! Hope im wrong.

This will be a good game to hold us over 1st quarter aka Dry Spell. The 360 isn't getting anything so we should be thankful.

While I was up at Blockbusters early on, I saw something Haze related in the corner of my eye, which looked like something for promotion.

I do feel for you ps3 guys.I hate the dry spell after xmas, thing is we 360 owners have shedloads of great games left from xmas to keep us going. Also the great online service is where most of us will spend our time until it all picks up again.Good luck with haze anyway, seriously Smile

What an ignorant thing to say.

Have you not yet realised that the excellent 360 xmas titles weren't actually excellent games? Most of them were multi platform anyway, but the 2 great 360 console exclusives (Halo 3 and Bioshock) were over in 24 hours. I found Mass Effect unplayable due to dropped frame rates and glitching and failing that, I can't find any non-PS3/360-only "great games left from xmas" Don't talk to me about the "great online service" as I hate online games, or rather most of the people who play them. I have gold membership to play co-op Crackdown, Halo and Gears.

Also, have you seen quite how long the "Dry Spell" is for 360 owners? I can't find a single interesting 360 exclusive until June, which is way past the first quarter. (Dark Messiah next week is mildly interesting but I played the PC version to death) I certainly hope you have enough "great games left from xmas" to last you til next xmas - because that's how its looking.

In contrast the PS3 exclusive scene is about to get warmer with GT5 Prologue, Haze, Killzone, MGS4, Time Crisis, Little Big Planet and UT3 all due by March.

I do feel for you 360-only guys, the illusion of choice has blinded you from looking at the future. The 360 has had a good run up to now, but maybe its blown its wad a bit early. Gates' announcement next week had better be good..

sorry man i wasnt criticising for the sake of it.i was just pointing out the value of online gaming, its not my fault if you dont like the online stuff.also anyone finding fault with the lineup of titles released so far on the 360 should maybe find a new hobby.there are even less titles for the ps3 anyway, and if you dont play online you really are screwed.better for all of us if sony gives us some competition, but at the moment the 360 is holding all the cards.

I think you'll find that a lot of gamers don't like online games, especially older gamers. So in that respect the value of online games is virtually null - that includes the PS3 with Warhawk et al. Demos and add-ons, yes thanks. Online gaming with abusive 14 year old muppets, no thanks. 2-4 friends playing co-op is great though, so it has a time and place.

Don't get me wrong, I play my 360 more than my PS3 because of the current games line-up. Even multi platform games I get for the 360 because I prefer the pad (AND I have a dual shock3 which is STILL uncomfortable), but you can't help but feel discouraged by the 360's 2008 lineup (when the first 3 months of PS3's is arguably as good as 360's pre-xmas line-up)

As for being screwed for not playing online, I'd say you're screwed being a gamer and not owning all 3 consoles. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune rocks too. For me, as good as Galaxy and Halo 3.

i wasnt trying to say online is the be all of gaming, just that its a very useful option during the quiet periods.the 360 will have plenty of stuff during the year,as will the ps3.but the ps3 only has whats coming and as of yet unproven titles.as it stands now, there isnt a real need for a ps3.oh and by the way, i did have a ps3 which i sold because it was just collecting dust.i spent the money on games for the 360, which says it all really.also i agree with you about the pad,i just couldnt get on with it either.
ingy on 4 Jan '08
if your ps3 is collecting dust, clean it! you don't want to end up on TV because sony wouldn't replace it Smile

i'm playing AC, still got uncharted to start and then of course burnout, UT3 (great online multiplayer) and still playing COD4 and Warhawk. My ps3 is far from collecting dust!

well there are a lot of "intelligent" posts so far, its going to be hard for me to compete...
if anyone had seen the gamer tv special on haze a few weeks back, or read my posts on the forum after i had watched it myself. you will know that the gameplay you saw on gamer tv look in all honesty crap. it was shoddy, framerate was poor, the animations and graphics were ps2'esque and it didnt really look like the system seller it has been hyped up to be.
i reckon that someone high up on the inside saw that gamer tv episode and thought "f**k me, we best put some more work in cause that looks cr*p".
hence the release date being put back and another one being elusive

Ok, this is the no bull, not a fanboy post. I have a Wii, 360 and PS3. Right now only one is getting used for gaming, the 360. I never touch the PS3, I have given it DVD and Media Streaming duties just so it has something to do. The Wii has seen attention due to Christmas parties, Metroid and Mario Galaxy's release.

Right now the line up for Sony's console is poor. Some people said that they don't like playing online, but as far as games go, Halo and COD4 are not over because I finished the campaign, in fact both are going strong as online games getting around 80-100 hours of play. I think the 360 line up had more top exclusive titles than PS3. The only worthwhile title for me on PS3 is Uncharted and that has sold very badly. The only other title worth mentioning is COD4 and that is Multi.

As far as the 360 goes, the exclusive titles were Bioshock, Halo 3, PGR4, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6 that spring to mind and people are saying that the 360 had only multi-platform games? Not to mention the wealth of exclusive titles available within its back catalogue. Anyone who thinks that the 360 has a weak line up really does need to get their head examined.

As far as Haze goes, I thought it sounded interesting but releases being pushed back is not usually a sign that development is going well. We'll see.
bazzatuk on 4 Jan '08
Anyone who thinks that the 360 has a weak line up really does need to get their head examined.

No, it doesn't suffer from a weak line up. In fact 2007 saw some truly fantastic games on the 360. It does suffer from lack a variety though. Look at the big games from 2007 - Bioshock, Halo 3, Half Life, Call of Duty 4. They're all FPS's. All well and good for hardcore fans or FPS lovers, but what about casual gamers or people who want to see something a bit different and original?

I see your point about there being too many FPS titles. If the PS3 was the best selling console it would be guilty of the same problem. FPS games, at least good ones are pretty much guaranteed to make a profit. However I do think that there is a decent variety of games on the 360. Admittedly there are a lot of FPS games, but they are the game genre of the moment, just like Platform games were in the late 80's and early 90's.

The 360 does not cater well to the casual gamer, however until the Wii no console truly has. Only now are Developers/Publishers seeing the genius of Nintendo's plan to capture that market, right now its working.

Even if there are a lot of FPS titles on the 360, you do have some really great games in other genres too. Ace Combat 6, PGR, Forza, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Kameo and Mass Effect (which is more RPG than Shooter) and others that don't immediately string to mind.

On the Haze front I saw some footage of the game on Bravo's GamerTV programme, however it didn't look impressive from a graphical stand point. However I will hold judgement until its release, but I am not holding my breath for this one being a great title.

There are two types of PS3 owners. The above pretty much outlines one of them. An owner who thinks a demo of a full price game is an exclusive title, and the best choice exists on a console that has very little choice available for it at present. These are the delusional PS3 owners that believe the 6 hour campaigns in Heavenly Sword and Call of Duty 4 last longer than the 6 hour campaign in Halo 3.

Then there are the PS3 owners like myself who are disillusioned because of paying for a console that has subsequently become nothing more than a media player for streaming media from my PC and watching the odd BluRay movie, which I pretty much will only rent from Blockbuster until I know which format is going to win. Which is admittedly looking more likely to be BluRay with the news that Warner are going BluRay exclusive. Any Multi-Platform games like COD4 will get purchased on my 360 mainly because Live has more people to play against.

I don't think anyone who has a 360 has any worries about what games they will be playing in the coming months, especially as the last few months has seen me purchase a number of titles that I have still to complete. I still need to buy some games I wanted to play through such as Uncharted and more likely Zack and Wiki on the Wii looks awesome. If you haven't heard of that game check it out especially if you are a fan of old point and click titles with a new twist.
bazzatuk on 5 Jan '08
I find it really depressing to read some of the poorly spelt rants from the both the PS3 and Xbox360 fan boys out there.
When will you all realise that both Sony and Microsoft want to take your money for as little effort as possible!
