EA/Marvel game deal dead in the water

Superhero team-up is no more
The game deal struck between EA and Marvel back in 2004, which to date has seen only the release of Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, is dead.

Confirmed by the publisher, EA has stated, "EA and Marvel have jointly agreed to discontinue development of the Marvel titles under the EA Games Label. This was a business decision based on EA's portfolio strategy".

Marvel added that the two "have jointly agreed to discontinue development of Marvel fighting games under the Electronic Arts brand."

This follows the closure of EA Chicago, which was working on a new Marvel fighting game.

It was reported yesterday that former EA Chicago general manager, Kudo Tsunoda, has gone over to Microsoft where he's rumoured to be heading up Gears of War 2.

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects was hardly a knock out game, despite having potential.

Not surprising really when you consider that Rise of the Imperfects was completey crap.

Who wants to play a Marvel game without Marvel characters -oh yes the game was complete crap.
Still its EA what else can you expect.

This needs to happen more often-make crap game, get crap sales, stop making games and leave it up to people who make good games!

Let's not forget, if Capcom get the licence back, it would mean they could finally release their Marvel back catologue.
