The Soul Calibur games have always been among the best looking titles on their respective platforms, and SCIV is no different.
Here are 19 super-shiny shots of Namco's latest fighter, featuring Yunsung, Raphael, Cassandra, and a very vainy Maxi swinging their lethal blades around in sparkling new current-gen worlds.
Soul Calibur IV is expected to arrive with it's weapons-based combat on Xbox 360 and PS3 in summer. We'll have our arcade sticks ready.
In case you missed it, you've got to take a look at this movie of the game, revealing Darth Vader and Yoda in the game. We don't care what you say, it's going to rock.
Very pretty, yes, but i just cannot get excited about this type of game any longer. I like my games to take me on some kind of journey into the land of make beleive, and once there, involve me to some degree. These games just do not provide that escapism, they are the gaming equivalent of a punchbag, (which would do more for you fitness wise incidentally). Indeed i find all one on one fighting games to be very shallow and unrewarding. Okay, rant over. And no offence meant to fans of the genre.

No offence taken. I love(d) beat 'em ups but the fact is most of them are pretty boring after a short while. I don't think I've played Virtua Fighter 5 fof more than 10 minutes in one-player mode, whilst multi-player is fun for about half an hour when my mates are over, before we switch to the much more entertaining PGR4.
Soul Calibur 4 does look awesome, but will it really do anything more than its predecessors? Probably not. But they're great fun in multi-player so I might trade in VF5 for this when it comes out.
none taken wudragon but the thrill laden rollercoster ride of a beer fueled sc tournament with a group of mates is beyond compare and something that single player or even online mp experiences often fail to live up to
personally i cant wait for this one, looks great and will hopefully be as fun as ever
The fighting game i'd really like to see again was Powerstone, that was simply awesome. Love Soul Caliber though, quality title... still give me POWERSTONE!

That is a very good point, i can only agree. But in single player.........zzzzzzzzzzz..
I dunno, SC on the Dreamcast was definitely the best looking game on the platform, but I certainly wouldn't level that claim on SC2 or SC3, and to be honest I've been feeling that these games have been getting uglier with each iteration. I guess they're going towards more 'realism' with their character models, but in a game where you can swing a sword that's longer than you are tall right through someone without them splitting in two, I tend to think maybe their priorities aren't quite right.
