The first solid details (well, the names of) on Red Faction 3 and Gearbox's Aliens game have appeared in the latest issue of US Game Informer.
"Gearbox's Aliens game" will now be known as 'Aliens: Colonial Marines', while Red Faction III adopts the catchier title of Red Faction: Guerilla.
Seeming as no-one's got their hands on the mag yet (we've only got a cover picture), actual game details are still forthcoming.
Not really a big surprise to find no Predators in the Aliens shooter then, as its said to be following the Jim Cameron film (that's the wicked one with the shouty marines) very closely, which is very good news indeed.
As for Red Faction... let's just hope blowing up walls still holds its gimmick.
Stay alert for more details (and hopefully shots) very soon).
If its half as scary as AVP on the PC we'll be in for a treat. Get away from her,you BITCH!
Anyone remember the Aliens game that was meant to come out on PS2? did that have the same name as this? Shame it got canned, the screen shots looked lovely. They were probably just renders.
It would be great if developers released their unfinished games onto the net if they know they will never be released.

Yeah, it did have the same name. I remember being p****d off because it got cancelled.
So, was Red Faction the big name game they were hyping or not
I actually thought the original was quite good fun, particularly playing with a mate on the multiplayer. Had some nice weapons and the destructible environments added a nice twist. Of course it was flawed, but it is disappointing that no one picked up the idea of the destructible environments and used it more successfully. Its amazing to think that after so many years from its original release blowing up the environment isn't a standard feature in FPSs, and those that do it only confine it to small huts.
Hopefully, Gearbox can do something interesting with the franchise.
As for the Aliens game, should be a good game, as long as they don't c**k it up. Understandably, taking the easy option of emulating the second film (which probably does suit a game more, even if I prefer the first.) As long as they get the right balance between gun-ho and scary bits it should be great.
If this new Aliens game looks as visceral and sharp as AvP it'll be mighty exciting. If it's as cartoony and trippy-looking as that piece of crap AvP 2 then it's about as exciting as eating a cheap pasty. Initially the content sounds good and nutritious, but upon devourment the content turns out to be stark and dry, with good bits few and far between. Oh I do love using metaphors inappropriately.
