Previous rumour reports of the PlayStation Network getting a huge overhaul in April would appear true as SCEA's director of product development confirms: "you will see a pretty big change in the PlayStation Network in the early part of April."
The rumour emerged from a retailer-only presentation, in which Sony was said to have unveiled plans to give the PlayStation Network a makeover, as well as demonstrating a new Video Store.
Sony has since remained cagey on the subject, however SCEA's John Hight has told Gamasutra: "We give [Sony's PSN team] a lot of feedback based on how our customers are reacting to things, and I think you will see a pretty big change in the PlayStation Network in the early part of April, where we roll out some new interface stuff largely based on customer feedback."
Hight held back on exactly what these changes would entail, but did tease: "Simplification, cutting down on the number of mouse clicks, making it easier to find stuff that you want to find... that's kind of an outgrowth of us having more content now, so we have to make sure that you can get at it easily."
I don't want to sound like a sour-puss, but there was no mention of in-game xmb in that article. I would'nt get your hopes up for that next month. More than likely arrive with HOME I would think.
I may be wrong, though. Personally I don't find the menu's too confusing, so an update of the psn layout is small-fry to me.
if sony have been paying attention to us then if we don't have an in-game XMB, an update for the divx player, and the ability to use your own custom soundtracks in-game, then they can suck donkey balls... knowing sony, they will just tart-up the online store and everyone will be left wanting as usual....fingers crossed we get an early xmas present for a change

Yep im with you mate, i couldnt give a toss about home-o, i'd much rather have a better functioning online service & a descent PSN menu system.....& would something new to download be too much to ask?... & no i dont mean more Sony Pictures Film Trailers or old s**t PS1 games!!!...

im not sure who you've been paying attention to, but everyones been after in game xmb since release. its even been called scandalous that it wasnt there from the start. i for one dont really care if i can read some muppets plea for adding them as a friend during a game, i can ignore that when i next turn the ps3 on. what would be extra lovely is if flash was part of an update in the near future. it would be lovely to watch redtube on my 40" bravia instead of the laptop. plus, there will be no need to delete history and cover my tracks from the woman lol.

God!!!! Not again!
XMB is coming this summer - Confirmed!
April ISN'T summer!
I was just trying to let the posts above me know the situation! No need to have a pop at me!

But the CVG forums just wouldn't feel right if people didn't have a go or get offended at every little thing you say. Watch. I'll show you....
Good news, I look forward to a flashier Playstation Store. A bit more vigilance on the content update front wouldn't hurt either.
I wonder if we'll ever see a steady stream of weekly game releases on PSN like XBLA and Wii VC. It's really easy for Nintendo because they just need to upload a few roms each week, but I'd like to see a situation like Xbox Live Arcade where we're getting a mix of brand new games and updated classics, guaranteed on the same day every week. Seems it's a long way off, if it ever happens. I know Sony have said in the past that PSN is about more substantial experiences than Xbox Live, which I think translates to "larger games less often". Or to translate for us Europeans, "maybe some larger games sometime... whenever the hell we feel like it"

Stop being soft and get the PJ Monsters in your life! So addictive it is scary. Best PSN download since SSHD or Warhawk. And only £3.49. Ace. Try and collect all the rainbows by having a perfect round. Tough as old booties.
anything will be better than the current store. i assume when they say listening to customer feedback they have read about people wanting more content.
it will had better be a flashed based web page or even better a software programme that we would need to instal.
I want to be able to search content via type, developer, artist/star, producer, genre and date added. once the search results are displayed I want to be able to sort them.
PSN has a long way to go before its perfect. but if it pulls it off. it will be the best console based online store

And no, I don't work for the devs!
I have played the demo off the US Store and I will admit I enjoyed it a lot... so basic but so much fun. I had made the mistake of disregarding it after demoing Pixeljunk Racers, but Monsters is in a totally different league. Not sure if it's worth the fiver though (it's €4.99 outside the UK)... actually seeing as how I have no games to buy this month, I think I will go for the full version. You can report back to the devs you don't work for that you've successfully made a sale.
