Five wonderful Mafia 2 screens

Illusion Softworks, we salute you
Far too long. It's been far too long since we last heard anything on Mafia 2, so thank you for five new screenshots.

It's actually the first we've seen of the sequel since it was confirmed last August and fans of the classy PC original collapsed in apoplectic heaps of excitement.

Mafia 2 immerses players in the mob underworld of a fictitious late 1940s-early 1950s scenario. We're told that we will become engaged in the game's cinematic Hollywood movie experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing city.

The first Mafia 2 trailer, which appeared shortly after the game was confirmed, can be seen here if you missed it.

That really does look quite sexy. Is it coming to PS3? If so, I am going to need a wage rise pretty soon. Laughing

if you had a 360 you'd be in debt because there's a lot more better games on that system !! Cool

FFS, these fanboys never resist a cheap shot, do they?

I think it's coming to 360, PS3 and PC.
I love the shot of the car (which I'm sure is a 1954 Ford Crestline, meaning the game is set more than two decades after the original), but some of them look like the HDR bloom has been turned up a little too much.

Cheers, fella. Looking forward to this one. Smile Played the first one on PC and it was a memorable game.

Now you see this looks like a good game. It actually looks even better than GTA 4! f**k yeah!

The original was fantastic, and also better than the GTAs around the same time, so there's no reason this one won't turn out to be at least as good, if not better, than GTA4.

If I could only choose one I'd probably go for this over GTA4. Thankfully I don't need to make that decision!

I love the style, I love the setting. Organised crime was much more gentlemanly and respectful back then. It was, in fact, just cooler.

I really ought to get past that awful racing level... Sad

Cant wait for this. The original is far superior to any GTA, but, TBH, its not as good for just dicking around with.

The screens make we wanna go put on my pin stripe suit and a fedora.
Waste_Manager on 7 Mar '08
I cannot wait for this. Rockstar should take a hint from the Mafia series - this is how you do visuals in a sandbox game. There's no excuse for some of those dodgy GTAIV textures and shoddy animations (like I've said before - GTAIV will be awesome and I can't wait for it. So calm down fanboys!)

I still remember most of the original Mafia like it was just yesterday - amazing atmosphere and cinematography (all in real-time, mind..) brilliant game.

Very Happy

The engine and the city look brilliant.

I am a little slightly less worried see them pics, but still worried about this being multi platform.

Hope that the PC version isn't ported piece of s**t like the last game.
Good story, but simply gruelling to play and control.

As for the visuals, GTA guys better take notes Razz

What?! PC came first, my friend. The controls were deliberately restrictive to better model the vehicle handling of the time. I thought it was brilliant; much better than GTA's arcade handling.
ArchieUK on 8 Mar '08
Still, it was overly difficult at times and since there was no decent save system you had to replay a lot of stuff over and over again Confused
