Yep, people are always going to demand more 'open' games when they aren't needed for the style. FEAR fits the close combat and linear style and so should continue with that in Project Origin. However, more original environments would be welcomed.
Looking at those screens, it really is starting to show its age, particularly the first one. Having said that, the modeling is still great, especially that monster who has grabbed the player, I hope that isn't a script sequence. If the enemies could knock you down and you had to get them off you it could make for some scary gameplay. I always felt the problem with the original was that the scary bits and combat bits were very separate, meaning during the scary bits you knew there was never going to be any danger. It does seem as if this game is going to be getting away from that. |
