Sony has finally confirmed its plans to release a PS3 GTA IV hardware bundle, which will be out when the game launches on April 29.
The bundle will contain a 40GB PS3, a Sixaxis controller (that's unfortunately the one without rumble) and a copy of the game, and will weigh in a £319.99.
This comes more than two weeks after a very official-looking bundle appeared on a German retail site, although neither Sony nor Rockstar would validate its existence at the time.
"We are delighted to offer the millions of PS3 and GTA fans the ultimate gaming package," said David Reeves, President, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
Sony should have included the dualshock pad. Still a decent bundle, but it could have been a great bundle with the new controller. They are probably just trying to get rid of old stock as quick as possible. And what a way to do it. Should sell well, regardless.
Seriously, if you were waiting to buy GTA4 with a new console and saw the PS3 at £300+ and the 360 at £199 each bundled with the game, who in the right mind would buy the PS3?

wrong, the 360 premium has a hard drive you fool! you can even buy an elite plus gta4 for less than a 40GB ps3 without rumble pad! thats right, the elite has a 120GB drive and a rumble pad out of the box- how about that!
I think MS need to do an Elite bundle. Say £269.99 with GTA IV. So if anyone wants to go wireless they pay an extra £50 on top that'll make it £319.99. I think this could compete against the PS3 bundle, 3 times the HDD size, But no Blu-Ray.. So i think that would make a nice competition to watch, as some may want more space and some might want blu ray. But MS would need to do this first lol
But I'm not sure the premium bundle will get people buying the 360 over the PS3. This bundle seems the best at the moment.
I think £300 with the game and a Dual shock 3 would have been an excellent bundle, it would have convinced me to buy a ps3 if i didnt already have one.

That's hardly true. Looking over the exclusive games that have being released on both consoles over the past year, I'd go for the £200 360 too at this point - if I had to choose one. Unless I had a top end PC, in which case I'd choose the PS3.
Oh, and I own both consoles (look at sig), so I'm just speaking from personal experience.
I guess it depends on if you base your decision on past or future, from what ive seen xbox360 has had great exclusives in the past, as it has been out longer. Now ps3 is settling in this forthcoming 2 years there are also some great exclusives lined up, whereas not that many major players for xbox. but an xbox, play the great games of 2007, sell it, but a ps3 and play the great games of 2008

Why would you want to buy a PS3? Wireless, blu-ray, personal and cheaper expandable harddrive, free online
Why would you want to buy an Xbox? Arguably slightly more exclusives (though less so in the last 9-12 months), smoother online experience atm, cheaper
Everyone knows this already. Rather than any constructive or insightful comments, there is a constant flow of playground taunts on this site, which is a shame cos sometimes you can get decent comment boards.

If they had informed people sooner I might have been tempted to pick this up, but as it's less than a week until launch I can't be bothered canceling my 360 pre-order. Shame really.
I think that this bundle will do well because for people who wanted a ps3 and thought there wasn't many games will buy it. GTA games last a long time, so I think people will buy this and won't feel like they are waiting long for newer release's, and got their value of money out of it. Plus they can buy the games that are already out to pass the time, R&C, Condemend 2, RFOM, Uncharted.

If Sony Europe really wanted to push the PS3 they should had released the PS3 GTA bundle for £299.99 with dualshock 3 and money off vouchers on bluray gangster, car crime films! That way the price looks appealing to the mass consumer and they also get the opportunity to taste bluray films at a reasonable price. Get them addicted! Get them on board. And nothing beats word of mouth on good bargains! Come on Sony do ya s**t! Gimme the European job!
Even if they had included a Dualshock 3 controller rather than a Sixaxis one, this would have been a bog standard deal at best.
On Play.com you can get a 40gb PS3 + Uncharted: Drake's Fortune + Devil May Cry 4 + 1 Sixaxis for £310. Type in a 5% off code and it's approx £295 with free delivery. I know- I bought one. (I also sent it back but that's another story.)

RIGHT! Fellow PS3 and 360 owners, please stop insulting each other and unite.
We must fight the biggest threat to the games market we have ever seen. It is of course the 'WII', because unless you want the market in 5 years to end up full of fitness games, or games that require only the simplest of inputs and the odd over rated mario game, we must all buy lot's of copies of GTA 4!
Also to stop the next gen becoming the current gen i.e the wii being a rebadged gamecube.
