13 new screens from Silent Hill: Homecoming

BOO!
Konami has released a bunch of screenshots from the new Silent Hill game, scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 in September.

Compared to today's Siren shots, they aren't exactly scaring us silly. The character detail looks very impressive though, and the fog still send shivers down our spines.

We also think we've got our first glimpse at Ellie, old school friend to protagonist Alex and a supporting character in the game.

For more on the game, check out the Silent Hill game page.

As the worlds biggest Silent Hill fan, I must say I am a bit disappointed with the character modelling, very last-gen!

Still I will be first in the queue come september!

no. 11 & 13 are repeated pics

I've played SH2, and plan on starting 3rd and 4th game soon.
When I heard Team Silent is not working on SH any more (but on Siren), that's like ripping the limbs out of something and hoping it can still walk.
I still hoped fresh new dev would spice the series up and bring it back to its glory....
But damn those pics don't look nearly as interesting as Siren's Confused

Siren kicks seven bells out of this, screenshot wise. Very disappointing.

Cant wwait for this, it doesnt look as visually impressive as Siren but the real fear comes from the atmosphere created from the game, something that cant be truly portrayed in a screenshot. Im a huge survival horror fan, between this and siren my year is complete.

These look far wobottom then the shots the other week/day/whenever. Just had a look at them and theres less detail in the characters in these. (Just look at the hair detail from these and the last load) These look more like there meant for the last gen of consoles!!

I must admit that screenshot 12 seems to have a nice atmosphere to it. Just a shame the original developers aren't working on this new SH. Fingers crossed, eh?

Nowhere near as attractive as it could be, if more time was spent on the visuals it really would increase the atmosphere and help you to feel more absorbed in the experience.

hmmm lookin a little sega dreamcast like, siren might be the one instead

A real shame, i regard silent hill 2 as the benchmark for these games. Hopefully the music, pacing, set plays and gameplay will recreate something similar to those of silent hill 2 which was masterful.

Siren is made by the same guy who created silent hill isnt it, that looks very promising.

these screens arent looking nowhere near as good as the earlier screens, as soon as i heard about a change in development i had a suspicion about whether this game will live up to hype and im not impressed so far...but still early days yet....they need to make this the silent hill 2 of next gen...or even the silent hill origins of next gen which in my opinion was better than silent hill 3 & 4

looks poor, it's like hd version of ps2 game, lightning in sh3 or 2 is still one of the best in gaming history but here... in next gen consoles it's really disappointing. at least i hope they improve saving points in siren.
Aphexman on 25 Apr '08
they look terible i know graphics arent everything but there just awful and more to the point there much worse than much earlier shown screenshots and gameplay footage i have seen which is very strange i cant see how it can get worse over time!
topcat on 25 Apr '08
Sorry to repeat what everyone else is saying on this thread, but those graphics look terrible especially the face modeling.

I have also liked the previous games, so I am rather concerned by this.
Well if it turns out to be average, then I will have kill zone 2 to make up for it(release before Christmas I hope?). Of course I will have to wait for resi 5 for my survival horror fix.

You lot know this is being made by some American studio right? and not the original Japanese dev that did 1,2 and 3? I was devastated when I found that out last year, as SH2 is, IMO, one of the best adult games ever. It was a pure classic.

These screenshots just add insult to injury. They look terrible. I thought this was on next gen, not PS2.

Crying or Very sad
These screens look crap to be blunt. very 1st gen 360, rather than what ever gen were on now. Although like people say it's not about the looks it's how it plays. So I hope they give us a demo, I'll keep it on my tby list but not @ RRP.

I loved Silent Hill 2,thats its benchmark and i hope it knows it.
