Here's a piece of info that might bugger up your Monday morning; Grand Theft Auto IV, as in that game that's going to be in the shops tomorrow, is totally region locked on Xbox 360.
That means owners of a North American Xbox 360 (that's us) won't be able to stroll into the shops and buy a PAL copy (and vice-versa) - because it won't work. Bugger.
The PS3 version, like all games, apparently works fine in all countries - though we're waiting for confirmation on that.
Although it's left up to developers whether or not it region locks its games on 360, the vast majority of titles are left open to the world.
Even Rockstar's Table Tennis lacks Region barriers, but seemingly the company has had a change of heart with GTA IV (let's face it, if some US shop started selling it early - we'd all be importing if it was region free).
It could also be for content rather than just a barrier to stop playing it early. I know that the content on region 1 (American) dvds sometimes differs region 2 (UK). Maybe one of us is getting a tamer version.
Also what if you have a uk 360 but an american gamer account? A mate of mine has that for some weird reason.

Nah it won't matter, its based on the region code of the console itself.
Been playing this since Saturday, fellas, you will love it!
Not that this matters one single bit, as the release day is exactly the same in both regions.
I don't think it's just that. It's sometimes cheaper buying an import from eBay or an online shop. So I'm sure there gonna be afew disappointed people by tomorrow.
It’s strange that they would choose to do this on 360 and not PS3, afaik you can still region lock PS3 games, but no developers choose to do so.
I wonder if it’s down to space, although it’s a strange reason for locking it, and the difference between PAL and NTSC SD resolutions. I know with GOW2 the devs couldn’t fit both 480p on the EU game as it wouldn’t fit with the 576i resolution. We do know that R* were unhappy with the disk size.
My understanding is that PS3 games is completely region free and that the option of region coding wasn't available. Will p**s me off if FFXIII is region coded as Squenix appear to make it part of there lifes work to p**s Europe off.
Still who cares if GTA's region free as it's out the same day. Only those with import consoles have to worry.
Dont want to be a fanboy, but i never heard of a region locked game on the ps3. most of my games are from the states, including my GTA IV pre-order. Cos there cheaper.
