A new MGS 4 trailer hints at the revival of scenes from the original Metal Gear Solid game in this summer's PS3 blockbuster.
The trailer starts off like with retrospective footage of the original PS1 game, as Snake sneaks into the front of the Shadow Moses facility, before moving onto clips from the 2003 GameCube remake, and the Shadow Moses level in the recent Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii.
Then, it asks: "This year, MGS revived?" followed by Snake working his way through what appears to be an updated Shadow Moses scene.
This seemingly playable scene turns out to be a dream, as the trailer then flashes back to modern-day older Snake, who snaps out of a trance.
So will you be able to play the original game, or scenes from it at least, in MGS 4?
"All will be revealed in coming weeks," a Konami spokesperson told CVG, keeping it all shrouded in mystery.
I have given up trying to keep up with the crazy complicated storyline of Metal Gear,i really enjoyed Snake Eater though and Metal Gear 4 will be worth buying a ps3 for mos def.
MGS4 requires story elements from the old games to bring everything together and fill in the gaps. Instead of using cut-scenes, Konami have made these sections playable, but slightly amended and use the new controls. They're dropped into the game at the end of 'chapters' and I suppose could be called bonus-missions.
i got a gamecube last month just for the MGS remake (which im still on the hunt for, im gonna try amazon, quite a few pre-owned copies there).
i know shadow moses was going to be in MGS4 but as an actual location as 1 trailer showed Snake in MG REX facing Liquid in MG RAY. but this is something i really like, actually even better, playable flashbacks from the original, unlike in MGS2 which it was cutscenes or pictures from the previous game. i doubt the entire MGS will fit along with MGS4 on a single blu-ray, i would also love to see a next gen version of MGS, but small playable flashbacks are good enough.
The original is still my favourite because, other than having the best story and gameplay, it had the least cutscenes. Then the number went up in MGS2 and up again in MGS3 to the point where I got p**sed off and stopped playing. The frequency and length of the cutscenes in MGS3 was ridiculous. If I want to watch a movie, I'll watch a friggin' movie.
I fear MGS4 may yet again up the number of cutscenes, so having an updated MGS on the disc too would mean it was worth the purchase even if you didn't end up liking MGS4.
Its the tenth anniversary of MGS, so it would be the ultimate celebration... I really hope they do include the full game of MGS remade with the MGS4 engine, though I'm not holding my breath.
Very cool trailer!! But Theres something fishy about it cos at the end if you look at the poster to the right of kojima (aka GOD)its got Snake dressed up in Altairs clothes and it has the title ASSASINS SOLID with a foxhound logo behind it ? WTF

he always throws in stuff like that e.g. the dig at GTA SA in the MGS3 ECS trailer.
I agree on the above issues people have with the cutscenes, i love cutscenes in FF games cos it gives a break and a nice sotry progression, but the ones in the MGS sequeals were horrible, it put down the joypad to watch a scene, it lasts for 20 seconds then im getting beat up, lift the controller again and 30 seconds later after i kill a guy theres a 5 minute cut scene. Not only that but the plots got more stupid with each release. You know now that everything is going to twist and turn into a huge mess and in the end you havnt got a clue whats hwat. MGS2 definately has to take the trophy on nobody knowing whats goign on half the time
True, the plot did get a bit convoluted in MGS2, but it does make sense if you, you know, pay attention during the cut-scenes. MGS3 does set things up for MGS1 and MGS2 but it feels more like a standalone game hence it has the best end-sequence that wraps things up very nicely.
It makes sense MGS4 will touch on Shadow Moses since it's got both Meryl and Naomi Hunter in and they weren't seen in MGS2.
If you pay attention to the trailer, you'll see the location is deserted which leads me to suspect we will get to visit the place where it all started. The only problem is that was young Snake you were controlling so either he's an unlockable character like Assassin's Creed Snake or you'll simply get to play some flashback style scenes...

if it makes perfect sense can you explain to me what happened with the 'A.I.' Colonel near the end, why was he created in the first place? because Raiden never met Campbell so it wouldnt matter who he was? why choose someone only snake knew about if it was supposed to come from Raidens mind? Why did he go crazy? read this for fanboyism( and insane drivel on the subject ) - http://www.deltaheadtranslation.com/MGS2/DOTM14.htm
MGS2's story was crap and playing as Raiden was crap, the oilrig environment was really really boring compared to the environments of MGS1 & 3. However i really enjoyed the tanker section with snake at the start. Its a shame they didnt keep the original harrier section from the Brooklyn bridge instead of moving it to the rig. MGS2 wasnt a patch on MGS1, at least MGS3 went back to the roots

That was an April's fool joke which was first presented by Jade then went into some gameplay footage of MGS4 where it had snake running around in Altair's outfit.
