PS Store search feature, video store glimpsed

NBC, MTV and Cartoon Network logos appear in PS3 promo ad
A recently-released PS3 promo video offers a glimpse of what could be the next iteration of the PS Store, packing a search feature and video content.

At one point in the ad, screens of the PS Store whoosh past, revealing a search feature along the bottom panel of the Store that isn't in the current version.

In another fly-by shot, it also shows a video download page donning the logos of TV networks NBC, HBO, Cartoon Network (yes!) and MTV, among others. Could this be the first glimpse of what Sony has in store for PS3 video downloads?

Although no announcement has been made, Sony is expected to reveal plans for a video-on-demand system for PS3 for launch this year.

Check out the snapshots below taken from the trailer courtesy of eagle-eyed Scrawlfx.com, where you can also see the full, otherwise unexciting video of a guy acting like a complete plonker.

SO, whereas the US have some great channels and programs to add....will the UK have the like of BBC and ITV churning out Eastenders, Emmerdale and Corrie?

Maybe they'll spoil us Brits by allowing us to watch Quincy and Murder She Wrote?

Sorry but the TV in this country is poor. Now if we didn't get the cr*p in this country then that would be ace.

Although I have no use for this dowloadable films and tv crap it will be a nice extra if you want it.
So it will be launched (in the US I presume) later this year. Ok so Europe will get it in about 2 years if we're lucky!

video marketplace- I'll wait and see what it has to offer over here.

The new store on those screens is interesting though. I'm seeing some new categories there as well. Maybe it might even be -gasp- half-decent with another update? Don't get me wrong, the recent store revamp was a vast improvement over the original, but its still rubbish.

British natural history programs are the best in the world by a long way, Brit comedy wins emmys every year as does our documentarys.

Of course Battlestar Gallactica is brilliant...

Are you joking? British Television (specifically the BBC) is revered the world over.

The US have identikit comedies (with a few gems) and 23.5 hours of adverts a day.

Just think of some of the best comedies out of the UK, Peep Show, The Office, Black Books, Father Ted, Mighty Boosh, Never Mind The Buzzc**ks to mention just a few in recent years.

Planet Earth was so good, even non-nature programme fans were converted - I've got the bloody box set.

Seriously, if you focus on soaps, then of course it's crap - but even our soaps are better, Sunset Beach anyone?

US TV is 99% crap. British viewers benefit from getting the hit series' without having to suffer the crap ones, AND we don't have 30% of an hour's programming taken up by adverts.

Well sounds good.
Due to the fact that I don't have an aerial socket anywhere near my PS3 which of course makes the forthcoming tuner pointless to me.
With this service I assume you just download the shows you want to watch?

Joss Whedon may change his mind an actually make Angel Series 6, so the whole thing can have a proper ending, then I can download it!
HA!
