The sequel to Beyond Good and Evil, almost unequivocally one of the most missed games of the last generation, has been in production for over a year according to the main lead. Ubisoft has yet to say anything about it though.
Speaking to Jeux Video magazine, creative lead Michel Ancel confirmed its development, but revealed that it's currently only being developed by a small team as Ubisoft has yet to give it the green light.
"We want to be a continuity of the first, with a wide variety of stages in the game, a lot of emotions in the gameplay and engaging characters", he said to Jeux France. "This time we enter the planet's future".
We've contacted Ubisoft for comment and are awaiting a reply from head office. With Ubidays just around the corner though (May 28), dare we hope to hear more then? Yes, we dare...
Ooh, yes please! I really loved the first game, definitely one of the few games made with genuinely likable characters. And a great conspiracy-filled plot. Bring it on!
The game didn't sell very well, but this is Ubi's own fault. They should know by know that it is suicidal to release a brand new IP (without a well known licence) for Christmas. Let me think, does Joe Gamer will buy “King Kong” or “Beyond Good and Evil”?
The game could have sold much more if they simply kept it few months and release it after Christmas.
tbh the first game was a disappointment... it started really well, showed a huge amount of promise, but then failed to deliver: I was expecting something a little more epic. That's not to say it was a bad game; it just didn't live up to its initial promise.
I hope so.. Now get on 13 part 2 ya left us hanging at the end of the first one. I know it didn't do well in sales either but the next gen is piping up sales, please make 13 part 2 , love the shell shaded games.
When's the first game coming to Xbox Originals anyway..?
The first game has sadly never been added to the Backwards Compatibility list (to my continuing horror). Until they make the effort to emulate it, it won't appear on the originals.
