Veteran race developer Simbin has teamed up with Atari for its next game, the "ultra realistic" and rubbish-named Race Pro - and its exclusive to Xbox 360.
PC fans will no doubt be disappointed by the jump to console, but Race Pro's sounding decent at least; powered by SimBin's own physics engine Lizard, the developer promises "unrivalled realism" and "deep immersion", plus Xbox Live games for 12-players.
Going by its impressive past games, we've no reason not to believe SimBin won't deliver on its promises.
RACE Pro sounds like it ticks all the check boxes for realism obsessives, with WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) tourneys, Formula 3000 and Formula BMW included, plus motors from Aston Martin, Audi R8 and Dodge.
Additionally, RACE Pro is exclusively sporting all the WTCC cars from Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, which we're has caused someone, somewhere out there to wee their pants a bit.
"Having personally taken the leap from 20 years of championship racing to racing simulation development, I am really excited for SimBin to be taking its own leap from PC to Xbox 360," said SimBin CEO Henrik Roos. "We are proud to be taking this significant move with Atari, our trusted partner since our very first game."
Race Pro is out in the autumn. Definitely one for racing fans to look out for this year.
Like every other 360 "Exclusive" i give it 4 - 6 months after the 360 release to see either a superior port or a completely new and superior game all together.

whats the matter, nose out of joint?? when you get your superior version we'll have completed ours and moved onto something else, dont know what you're complaining about anyway, you probably download it for free off torrents or newzbins anyway, is it any wonder the games companys are favouring the console market??? and yes i know i can get 360 games to download, but that just wrecks my online experience of a game for obvious reasons....
”We are issuing this statement to counter false rumours currently circulating on the internet regarding a new X360 game. We do have plans for an upcoming X360 game and an official announcement from Simbin will follow shortly with correct information on title and publisher. To clarify on a specific point, THQ is not the publisher of our upcoming X360 game. The information currently circulating is incorrect,” said Magnus Ling, Vice President, Simbin Studios.
that quote mostly says they have not announced anything and that THQ isnt the publisher.
im sure this story is saying atari will publish.
we all know 'nothing has ben announnced' means 'you found out before we could make a big fuss about it'.
back to the game, im sure the single seaters will be good and hopefully the touring cars wont be as erractic as they are on GRID.
Nothing can handle as bad as Grid!
I am looking forward to this new racer (if it is truly coming out) for my 360. Definitely my type of game. Played other sim-bin games on the PC but could never fully appreciate them, having no wheel, or decent pad. They were still good, solid games though.
RACE Pro sounds exactly like RACE 07 (PC)....same cars, primarily touring car etc.
What is strange is that SimBin started on a 360 version of GTR a while back, the game didn't get finished and Atari was then announced as the publisher having taken over from THQ.....the development was then put on hold.
Either way, I've no doubt they will come up with the goods as all Simbin's car sims have been great. There is nothing to say that they have suddenly finished developing for PC anyway - I'm taking a guess that they'll finish/improve the game that they had already started and it already exists on PC anyway in RACE 07 as I mentioned earlier - the bonus is that it's a brilliant game so 360 owners will soon have the best realistic console racer in their palms.
