A new PlayStation-exclusive title is to be revealed next month, according to a back-page teaser in the Dutch Official PlayStation Magazine.
The magazine is apparently under a strict embargo, and so refrained from giving away any details whatsoever as to what the game might be. It's probably already said to much to be honest...
According to internet translations, it's a PlayStation-only title, and the team is flying to LA to see it at the studio ahead of its preview in the next issue.
As noted, SCE Santa Monica and Naughty Dog are in that part of the world, so that gives something for speculators to hold onto. We're waiting on word back from Sony, although we're guessing it'll be keeping hush for now.
Let the speculation commence - but I am hoping for a Jak and Daxter game. More quality platformers are needed in my humble opinion. Variety is the spice of life and I hope that developers move away from fps games for a while and give us something a bit more unique.
A serious lack of top quality rpg's has also been unfortunate - with even the last Zelda game being a bit underwhelming for me.
My year would be complete if Sony release the following games in 2009:
GT5 - Please for the love of god, get it finished!
Drakes 2 - quite confident in this one.
GOW3 - Hopeful.
Team ICO game - Mmmm. Doubtful.
Heavy Rain - More than likely.
If those games turn up, along with a few surprises, I'll be one happy chappie.
Now come on MS, show us some new games please. And not just Halo ones....
This is exactly the sort of thing PS3 needs. Hopefully it's something worth while that'll wow PS3 owners such as myself and not let down like many PS3 exclusives have lately...

That would make my year! A proper old fashioned platform adventure in the mould of the original J&D game would be fantastic. Lots of free roaming areas with secrets aplenty, set to a glorious HD backdrop, with vistas to make your eyes dribble? Yes please.

I hope not. PS3 needs a new IP to push it forwards. Something that can do what Gears of War has for 360. What it doesn't need is another platformer, which simply isn't a popular genre these days, and no less from a series that's run its course and even lost it's decency with a Mario Kart'esque incarnation...
That's the main thing where PS3 is going wrong. They are relying too much on franchaises they established either way back on PS1 or PS2. Franchaises that have had at least a trilogy released. The thing is, there are new gamers out there now and you can't expect them to slip into the 4th or 5th rendition of a game. That's partly why MGS4 didn't live upto expectation in terms of sales.

Maybe. I'd more like to see something else though. A new adventure game, a new action/adventure game...ANYTHING over a new FPS!!
The good thing about the PS3 release schedule this years is the variety, Killzone 2 for the shooter, Heavy Rain for the Point and click (whatever it turnes out to be), Uncharted 2 for the action/adventure....i'd maybe like to see a new racer or something.
Hope its not another FPS, there's too many of them at the moment! I dont think it'll be another J&D game as Naughty Dog will be too busy with Uncharted 2, plus they release 1 game about every 2 years or so!

Arent Rockstar supposed to be doing a PS3 exclusive!!
I wouldn't have thought so. Makes no financial sense to limit themselves to such a small part of the market, especially since all of their other titles have been multiplat. Besides, Rockstar is based in the UK and New York, not the west coast.
And Sony has a decent number of original IPs anyway - LBP, Heavy Rain, Darksiders, Dark Void, Alpha Protocol, Rise of the Argonauts. And a few that have a way to go in terms of sequels - Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, etc.
